RVP Update, May 2009 ...
The NAB Show: We had an enjoyable and productive week at this year’s NAB show. There was a great deal of HD related developments and we’ve posted a few pictures below that emphasize our interest in the international market. We also received some interesting comments and feedback on stock footage, and we have summarized a few of these points as follows:
"Longer clips needed" - footage less that 10-12 seconds often doesn't cut it.
"Quality over quantity" - the market is becoming saturated with too many poorly shot or composed stock footage clips, and using the newer and very large footage sites can be time-consuming and unproductive.
"Nature footage is versatile" - overall, nature footage is usable in the greatest variety of production venues. It was also our observation that most of the HD presentation displays at the show had nature footage running on them.
RVP Update, January 2009 ...
Seven New Nature Series Libraries Released! We have completed phase-1 of our basic Nature Series set of stock footage libraries. There are now eight libraries (NS1-NS8), comprising 1575 clips, from wilderness locations in Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming. Libraries NS2-NS8 were all sourced in 1080 high-definition but are also available in widescreen SD.
Folk Series Music Library in Production: RioVista is now in production on a new folk music production library. The first folk library will be produced from American traditionals (from the 19th & 20th centuries) and then from Celtic periods. The first release of this new music is scheduled for February 2009; from there, tracks will be released incrementally, in sets of 5-10 each.
New RVM Demo Center and Library Previews: Sifting through stock footage previews can be daunting—even in a smaller, more focused set of libraries such as our own. To solve this problem, we have implemented a special ‘Demo Center’ page where you can get complete library-set overviews AND nature category previews. But that’s not all…we have also provided highlight previews for every library AND collection in the NS2-NS8 set.
Each collection has 25 clips, but now you can simply review a collection’s demo to quickly see if there’s some footage in that collection you want or need. Likewise, we did the same for each of the NS2-NS8 libraries, where you can preview the basic content from an entire library--there’s 150 clips in each of the NS2-NS8 libraries--without having to wade through all the collections.
RVP Update, October 2008 ...
In Production: RioVista is now finishing production on 7 new libraries shot in May, June, September, and October of 2008. We covered 11 states and were very fortunate to acquire a great variety of pristine nature footage from the American West's unique canyons, deserts, forests, meadows, mountains, prairies, high-country cascades & streams, river valleys, wildflowers, and wildlife. All footage was shot in 1080 HDV (with the Canon XL H1) and will be released this Fall (during the October/November 2008 season).
Japan-Inc Magazine Feature Article: We were interviewed for a feature article on HDTV in Japan, a published in August 2008. It’s an interesting and very informative piece, taken from the POV of the Japanese broadcast industry. Please click on this Japan-Inc Magazine link to read it.
RVP News, April 2008 ...
RioVista Productions just finished an incredible week at the NAB show, in Las Vegas! We exhibited there (booth C157) and were really overwhelmed at the positive response to our unique products and services. We want to sincerely thank everyone that stopped by our booth!
New HDV Libraries Announced at NAB: We are pleased to announce that 3 new 1080i HDV libraries are scheduled for production and release by June, 2008. Some of things we have received very positive feedback on, about our Pristine Nature footage, is the longer clip times, the variety of compositions and angles, and the clean, uncluttered images. The next 3 libraries will be 150 clips, each and, due to their average length, will be shipped on portable USB drives. Locations for these new libraries will be from wilderness areas in Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah, Colorado, Wyoming, Idaho, and Montana.
Specialized Production Services Announced at NAB: We are pleased to announce a special production service for custom footage and music at several levels of the larger production chain. Let us put our knowledge of the American West and its varied landscape to work for you! Please contact us directly for additional details at 760-479-9807, or via email to info@riovista-media.com.
AmeriVista-Media site launched at NAB-08: During the week of NAB (April 11-17), we were pleased to announce the launch of a new marketing and sales venue (and website!) that offers our unique products to Asia. The name of the new site is "AmeriVista-Media.com" and it is being developed as a special, multi-lingual channel that will reach out to Asian businesses that need certain specialized media content and production services from America.
We invite you to take a look at a few of the images we managed to get during a very busy week at the NAB show in Las Vegas!
We wish you success in every way!
Sincerely,
Tom & Kerry Fratts
